California Capitola Coastline Original Painting on Canvas Board with Wood Frame - By Jon Blanchette

This is an original painted piece, not a print. It was painted on canvas board. This painting was most likely painted in the 50's/60's It was originally painted by Jon Blanchette. The painting appears to have been originally framed, and has some wear on part of the canvas as seen in the photos. It doesn't take away from the uniqueness and vibrant nature of this piece. The frame is decorative gold on a wood interior and was originally made in Mexico. Jon Blanchette was originally from the UK (born in Somerset England in 1908.) He showed high artistic promise at the early age of 6. In 1918, he immigrated to Battle Creek, Michigan. He received his BA at the Pittsburgh Art Institute. Later he moved to California in the 1930's where he dabbled in interior and architectural design and stage sets for Fox Studios. Jon settled permanently in Santa Cruz in the late 1940's. Know as being a romantic realist, he is best known for his oil paintings of Northern California and the coast line. He also was proficient in creating art with pen and ink, watercolor and silkscreen. This gorgeous ocean landscape painting would make the perfect addition to any wall. Painting will require special packaging to ensure safe transit, all of our shipments are fully insured.
