Herbert Krenchel designed the Krenit series while he was a student at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. He was inspired by the clean lines and functionalism of Danish modern design, as well as the traditional techniques of metalworking.

The Krenit range was launched in 1953, and quickly became popular due to its distinctive minimalist design and functional qualities. The range includes bowls, trays, and other kitchenware, all made from steel and coated with a durable enamel finish.

The Krenit bowls are particularly notable for their simple yet striking design, with a thin, sharp edge that contrasts with the smooth, curved shape of the bowl. The bowls are available in a range of colors, from classic black and white to bold primary colors.

The Krenit range was produced by a number of Danish manufacturers, including Torben Ørskov & Co and Normann Copenhagen, but production ceased in the 1960s due to changing tastes and production costs.

However, in the early 2000s, the Krenit range was rediscovered by design enthusiasts and collectors, and the range was reintroduced by Normann Copenhagen in 2009. Today, Krenit enamelware is once again a popular and highly sought-after design classic, celebrated for its timeless design and functional beauty.
