This Tonala piece is in great condition with no chips or cracks. Comes with the tie to hang it on the wall. The bottom has the makers mark stating it was made in Mexico. May be a cat like figure but it is hard to tell. It is a rarer piece and is not signed. Has some surface only clear glaze cracks that add a great deal of old world charm and character to the tile overall.

Tonalá is a town located in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, and is known for its rich tradition of pottery-making. Today, Tonalá ceramics are highly sought after by collectors and are exported around the world. The town is home to many artisan workshops and cooperatives where potters create a wide range of ceramics, including vases, plates, bowls, figurines, and more.

Tonalá ceramics are often created using a process called "barro bruñido," which involves burnishing the clay with a smooth stone or piece of metal to create a shiny, polished surface. The pottery is then painted with bright colors and intricate designs, often featuring images of animals, plants, and local folklore.
